Danaher Motion developed a PMAC motor for the Segway- a motor with breakthrough torque density and built-in sinusoidal feedback. The Segway motor features dual windings that when connected to a dual drive, allows for complete redundancy. This makes for virtually two motors in one mechanical package and should one fail, the Segway still functions.
